Poem: Would you pick me?

If my skin were soft,
If my lips were smooth,
As a rose petal,
Would you pick me?

If my sent,
Were as sweet,
As a rose,
Would you pick me?

Would you take me home?
Strip me,
Arrange me,
Just as you please.

A beauty to behold,
A sight to see,
Full enjoyment,
For but a moment.

If I show my thorns,
Stand up tall,
Or wilt and fall,
Would you still pick me?

Would you care for
Or throw me away,
Once I start to bow,
To the reality of the world

Knowing what is to come,
Would you pick me?
